BREW
2001 HIGHTLIGHTS
Making wireless history
The BREW 2001 conference was an important milestone for the wireless
industry in many ways.
For starters, it's where hundreds of developers received the commercial
release of the Software Development Kit (SDK) for BREW , the
new Binary Run-time Environment for Wireless from CDMA leader QUALCOMM
Incorporated. The first and only native platform designed from the
inside out for wireless communications and computing, BREW lays
the foundation for a rapid wave of development that will bring new
applications, devices, channels, revenue streams and consumer services.
As the first major gathering of leaders who helped shape and support
this platform, BREW 2001 set the stage for an exciting new era in
wireless.
Who attended?
Taking place against the beautiful backdrop of San Diego, California,
BREW 2001 brought together professionals from every corner of the
industry. Application developers, device makers, service providers,
technology experts and business analysts all had an opportunity
to learn, exchange ideas and build new relationships.
Whether your focus was on gaming, messaging, music, navigation,
information, m-commerce, PIM tools or other kinds of wireless applications,
BREW 2001 helped you to tap into valuable contacts and resources.
Business managers heard about the BREW
business model, with new economies of scale and opportunities for
differentiation, along with case studies and testimonials from early
BREW developers.
Technical managers and senior programmers
got an in-depth explanation of the BREW architecture and design
philosophy, application programming for the BREW environment, the
Developer Support network, TRUE BREW certification and more.
Analysts and press learned about where
BREW fits in with other platforms, the growing support for BREW
among the CDMA community, and how the launch of 3G and BREW-based
applications will enrich the consumer experience.
All the right ingredients
In the general sessions, some of the most respected leaders and
visionaries of the wireless world shared their views. During breaks,
live demonstrations of BREW application downloads, streaming media
and position location technologies were displayed. Three different
conference tracks -- the BREW Business Track, the BREW Technical
Track and the 3G Wireless Market Track allowed participants
to concentrate on their primary interests. And at night, attendees
mixed it up with their colleagues at the BREWfest, a blow-out bash
like no other conference party before it.
